Winegartons Ltd London EC2 - 1940s 15 Jewel 33mm Manual Winding Watch

This is a vintage 1940s Winegartone mechanical wristwatch with a lovely if slightly aged champagne silver dial with stylised Roman numerals, and offset square markers. - Original lumed syringe hands, and a red sweep centre seconds hand. The manual-wind movement is housed in a gold plated brass case which is pretty good, fitted with a brown leather strap. The watch is working and keeping good time and measures 33mm diameter excluding the crown by 42mm from lug to lug.
Winegartens was a prominent independent jeweller and watch retailer located at 145 Bishopsgate, London EC2, famous during the 20th century for commissioning and retailing high-quality timepieces. Like other prestigious London outfitters of the era (such as J.W. Benson), Winegartens Ltd. did not manufacture its own movements.
