West End Watch Company "Sowan" (Cavalry)Military Wristwatch, 1950's

£55.00Price

A firm favourite of ours, this make of watch is extremely high quality, sixty years old - Unrestored - Silver Dial, with some marks  near the centre designed for military use, and with the arrow on the case back, military issued - Steel body, and leather strap fitted. The movement runs strongly, and keeps good time. The case is 34mmx43mm. We have had the movement serviced.

You might have thought that the "West End" in the name relates to a location "up west" in London - You are wrong - For this firm was fundamentally Swiss, albeit with inspiration for the name being drawn from the West End of London by M. Arnold Charpie , Bombay representative of Swiss watch company, Alcide Droz & Sons, established at Saint-Imier in Berne, Switzerland, in 1864.
