Vostok Amphibian Automatic 40mm "KGB" Divers Watch
Rugged and well made Cold War era watch - Vostok Amphibian manufactured in the Chistopol Watch Factory near the end of the USSR. The KGB shield-and-sword emblem on a dark green dial, this is one of the most recognizable and collectible variants of the Vostok Soviet diver watches - The dial is good, just a very little fade, the case is really good, minimal plate loss. We have had this watch serviced, it runs well, and to time.
Movement: Calibre 2416B Automatic movement with 31 jewels. Features a manual wind option and a sweeping seconds hand.
Case Size: 43mm (including crown) / 40mm bezel diameter — the classic "round" Amphibian case.
Water Resistance: Origionally rated to 200 Meters (20 ATM). Features the famous two-piece case back and oversized rubber gasket that tightens under pressure – Not considered water resistant at this age.
Bezel: Bidirectional rotating bezel with dot-and-dash dive timing scale.
Crown: Authentic "wobbly" screw-down crown — a deliberate Vostok design choice to protect the movement from lateral shocks.
The "KGB" Legacy: The Vostok Amphibian was developed in 1967 for the Soviet Ministry of Defence. Unlike Western divers, it doesn't rely on brute force for water resistance; instead, it uses a "dynamic" seal that gets tighter as you go deeper. The KGB-branded dials became a pop-culture phenomenon in the early 90s, making this a perfect crossover piece for fans of Soviet history, spy-craft, and tool watches.
