Sicura (Breitling) "Worldtime" 38mm Divers Watch

Sicura (Breitling) "Worldtime" 38mm Divers Watch

Just serviced, and in lovely condition, with a perfect dial, a late 1960's Sicura 17 jewel divers watch - 200 feet vacuum tested according to the dial, and also the lume being Tritium is also displayed.

The outer blue bezel is good, it does not seem to move, the inner black bezel revolves, although it is stiff. The 200' water resistance is when the watch was new, and our advice on all vintage dive watches is best not to get them wet!

The movement has been serviced, and the watch keeps good time - We have fitted a high quality leather strap.

A a consequence of the quartz crisis the watch company Breitling suspended operations in 1978, laid off all workers and sold their assets to the highest bidders. Sinn bought completed / partially completed watches and Ollech & Wajs bought the machinery and unassembled parts. And in April 1979 Ernest Schneider from Sicura signed an agreement with Willy Breitling to buy the right to the names "Breitling" and "Navitimer".

Ernest Schneider introduced new models and breathed new life into Breitling with succes and during a few years the brand Sicura was phased out and Sicura became Breitling. At 29 Nov 1993 Montres Sicura AG officially changed its name to Breitling AG. Ernest Schneider continued as President for Breitling until his death in 2015 at the remarkable age of 94. Ernest' son Theodore Schneider today is the owner of Breitling.
