£135.00Price

A Gentleman's 1960s Chrome Plated wrist watch in near perfect condition by Winegartons, London EC2.
The watch has an Eta 2409 17-jewel hand-winding movement which we have had serviced, this dates the watch to 1965/6.
The case measures 36mmx38mm excluding the winding crown and lug to lug. The case is chrome  plated and it is in good condition . The screw-on case back is stainless steel. The acrylic crystal lens is excellent.
The midnight blue signed dial is superb with original slender hands, sweep seconds outer minute markers. A new leather strap has been fitted.

The ETA 2409 is a mechanical watch movement that features a manual wind function, a sweep second hand, and a date setting that can be adjusted by changing the 21 to 24-hour mark. It is a period movement that was commonly used around 1965. The differences between the 2406 and 2409 are not known, but it is noted that the stud carrier was initially fixed and later became mobile.

Winegartens was a traditional London jeweller, prominent in Bishopsgate, known for selling both well-known brands and its own-label watches. The company specialized in commissioning Swiss movements and cases to create its own private-label timepieces, particularly famous for its railway regulator pocket watches, but also offered wristwatches from the 1920s through the 1970s. They also dealt in other goods like cutlery, sold top-brand watches, and were eventually acquired by Goldsmiths in the 1980s.
