1970's "Marine-Star" Automatic Blue Dial "600 Feet" Divers Watch
A most desirable 1970's divers wristwatch, with the at least theoretical Breitling connection!
With a perfect blue dial, and a good bezel, this Marine-Star looks superb, the watch has been serviced, and the "Rondamatic" movement works properly, and keeps time, the case looks good, with plating loss restricted to the back edges.
This watch is presented in super condition - Serviced, with a new domed crystal, and a new heavy leather tagged strap. The case is 40mmx47mm .
So is this a Breitling? - No, this is a Sicura watch, and although Sicura did indeed become Breitling, this is a Sicura Marine-Star - A wonderful watch to wear in it's own right.
Sicura was a Swiss watch company founded in 1939 that grew to prominence in the mid-20th century, producing affordable, stylish watches. In 1979, Sicura's owner, Ernest Schneider, bought the then-struggling Breitling brand and its assets, and began producing watches under the Breitling name using his own facilities. Sicura was eventually renamed Breitling AG in 1993, marking the end of the Sicura brand, though some watches produced between 1979 and 1982 can be considered a transition.
