Hardly any other model is as closely associated with Oris as the Big Crown Pointer Date. Since its introduction in 1938, the line has been an integral part of the Hölstein-based manufacturer's catalog. Oris originally developed the watch as a tool watch for pilots. The large, easy-grip crown, which can also be operated with gloves, gives the model its name. Another characteristic feature is the pointer date, with a central hand pointing to the date on the outer edge of the dial . This gives the Big Crown Pointer Date its unmistakable character.
