Gruen Precision "Autowind" 23 Jewel Watch
A lovely Automatic Gruen is likely to have been one of the last ones made, as the company ceased trading 1976, and the movement was in production 1969-78 - This watch is approx. 1975.
The watch has some wonderful 70s features. The chestnut centre disc on the dial. The oblong case shape. All fitted to a new 19mm strap. The heavy solid brass case has light surface marks, and sits very comfortably on the wrist. We have renewed the acrylic crystal . The automatic wind movement is running fine, and to time - the dial seems perfect, with day/date at three, and slim gold hands, with sweep seconds.
The A. Schild 2066 watch movement, utilized from 1969 to 1978, features an indirectly driven minute mechanism that allows for a sizable balance and low profile. This automatic movement incorporates several functions: quickset day (available in 1 or 2 languages), quickset date, day and date display, and sweep seconds.
