Fine Quality Gentleman's 1960s Timor Manual Winding Watch.

Just Serviced, a fine quality Gentleman's watch by Timor , early 1960's. The 17-jewel hand-winding movement is keeping excellent time.
The 34mmx40mm gold plated case is in very good condition, the case back is stainless steel and is not the original. The crystal is in good condition, with just minor marks.
The creamy colour dial is signed , it is in its original finish with original hands, sweep centre seconds - In superb condition -
A new Condor leather strap has been fitted.
Timor’s history is defined by its role as a key supplier to the British military and its modern rebirth as a heritage-focused brand. 
Founding and Early Innovation (1923–1938)
Establishment: Founded in 1923 by Mr Bernheim and Mr Luthy in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Reputation: The brand quickly became known for durable timepieces, adopting the slogan "Trust Timor, It’s Tested".
Social Impact: In 1931, Timor was among the first to create a watch for the partially sighted, featuring a hinged crystal and braille numerals. 
The Military Era (1939–1945) 
Timor is most famous for its contribution to the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) during WWII. 
A.T.P. (Army Trade Pattern): Introduced in 1939, these were the first watches Timor built specifically for the British Army.
The "Dirty Dozen" (W.W.W.): In 1945, Timor became one of 12 companies (including Omega and IWC) commissioned to produce the Wrist, Watch, Waterproof (W.W.W.) model.
Production Volume: Timor produced approximately 13,000 of these iconic field watches, which featured black dials, Arabic numerals, and luminous hands for maximum legibility. 
Post-War and the Quartz Crisis (1950s–2000s)
Diversification: Following the war, Timor transitioned into producing elegant gold dress watches and fashion-focused pieces.
Dormancy: Like many Swiss manufacturers, the brand was severely impacted by the Quartz Crisis in the 1970s and effectively ceased production.
Survival: The brand name survived under various owners, including Mr Bolzli in the early 2000s, who focused on selling pocket watches in Asian markets to keep the company afloat. 
Modern Rebirth (2015–Present)
UK Relocation: In 2018, the brand was acquired by British Army veteran Benjamin Briggs and relocated its headquarters to Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
Heritage Reissues: Timor successfully launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2020 to release the Heritage Field WWW, a faithful modern recreation of its "Dirty Dozen" watch.
Current Focus: The company now produces modern field watches like the Modern Field 100M, maintaining its historical 36.5mm case size while using modern materials like sapphire crystal and Sellita movements.
