Superb Vertex "Revue" Cal 77 Manual Winding Watch

£129.00Price

A hand winding watch by Vertex in very good condition.

Dating to the late 1950's and on a new Right Time strap.

Vertex were one of the twelve companies commissioned to make watches for the British Army, later called Dirty Dozen.  Considering that some of the others include Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Longines and Omega this is all you need to know about the quality of Vertex watches of the period.  This watch is not disimilar to RAF issued watches.   The case, 32mmx40mm made from Stainless-steel, is in very good condition and only shows marks from normal wear.

The dial is original and is near perfect, in champagne silver, with applied gold Arabic numerals, an outer seconds track, with gold hands, and red pointed sweep seconds hand.  The movement is a manual wind Revue 77, which is running very well.

Vertex Watches has a rich history, tracing its origins back to 1916 with the founding of the company by Claude Lyons. The company initially imported Swiss movements and re-cased them in England. Vertex is particularly known for its role in supplying the British military during World War II, becoming one of the twelve manufacturers featured in the "Dirty Dozen" collection of military watches. The company faced challenges and was closed in 1972, but was later re-incorporated and relaunched in 2015.
