The Mortima Mayerling is a classic French vintage watch line manufactured primarily during the 1960s and 1970s by the watchmaking firm Cattin & Cie based in Morteau, France. Known for offering "every man's affordable watch," Mortima produced bold, distinctively retro timepieces before the quartz crisis altered the industry. Founded by Émile Cattin in 1929 in Morteau, a French town near the Swiss border. The name "Mortima" combines the hometown Morteau with the English word "time".

  • By 1960, the factory was a powerhouse producing nearly 2 million watches a year, earning export awards from the French government.

The "Mayerling" name was a generic label used by Mortima across multiple casual and dress-style models: Feature clean sunburst silver, deep blue, or stark white dials. They often include a "cyclops" date-magnifying window and a signature rooster logo stamped on the case back.
