  • Roamer and Meyer & Stüdeli

  • 1888: Fritz Meyer founded the company, initially producing cylinder escapements with just six employees.

  • 1905: Watchmaker Johann Stüdeli joined, forming the partnership Meyer & Stüdeli (MST). They began producing complete, high-precision watch movements.

  • 1920s–1930s: MST expanded into a full manufacture, producing most of its own watch parts, dials, and jeweled lever in-house calibres under various brand names, with Roamer standing out for quality.

  • 1941: The company achieved great success with patented keyless, water-resistant cases designed by engineer Ernest Morf.

  • 1950s: The company officially changed its name to the Roamer Watch Co. It also launched its first automatic rotor movements (such as the MST 410).

  • 1955: Roamer introduced the famous Amphibian line featuring a heavily upgraded, patented waterproof case design.

  • 1960s: The brand cemented its reputation for durable, precise timepieces, releasing rugged models like the Stingray and Mustang.

  • 1972–1975: Roamer introduced quartz movements, but economic pressures from the Quartz Crisis forced the brand to halt internal movement manufacturing by 1975.

  • 1980s–1990s: The company changed hands multiple times, joining the ASUAG (General Watch Co.) group before being managed by private investors and Hong Kong's Chung Nam Company.

  • Today: Roamer operates out of Switzerland (Solothurn and Mendrisio), offering an affordable range of Swiss quartz and mechanical watches.
