1940's Vedeor Chronometer Watch - Venus 170 Movement!
Just returned from service, a Vedeor Chronometer dating to the late 1940's with the finest chronometer movement available at the time - An attractive champagne dial with full outer chronograph tracks, sub dials at twelve and at six , centre chronometer sweep second hand, and Arabic numerals.- The gold plated case has some plate loss to the lugs, the case and it's steel back have been re-polished - All functions work as they should, and the watch keeps time.
The Venus 170 is a highly respected, Swiss-made, hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movement. Produced between 1942 and 1960, it is best known for its signature "up-down" vertical sub-dial layout, featuring a 30- or 45-minute register at 12 o'clock and constant small seconds at 6 o'clock.
The Venus 170 operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (vph) and features 17 jewels. It was utilized by notable mid-century watchmakers such as Breitling, Gallet, Heuer, and Wittnauer.
Vedeor was registered to the sons of P.Schwarz-Etienne SA, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1944.
