1940's Siro Sports (Oris) Pin Movement 32mm Watch

Siro watches were a historic, budget-friendly subsidiary brand of the famous Swiss watchmaker Oris. The brand name is simply "Oris" spelled backwards. : The brand was officially registered in 1925. Oris created Siro in the 1920s and 1930s specifically to target the UK and US markets. During the mid-20th century, major Swiss watch companies frequently created offshoot brands to sell less expensive watches without diluting the prestige of their main name. (Similar to how Bulova made Caravelle, or Benrus made Belforte). Vintage Siro watches typically house original Oris-manufactured movements (such as the Calibre 361 or Calibre 296). They usually feature simpler, inexpensive pin-pallet (pin lever) movements rather than the premium Swiss lever escapements used in flagship watches. Because they were built as entry-level pieces, early models generally lack the internal shock protection that became standard after the 1940s.
